Select Deck Grade - Limited size and quantity of sound tight knots. Minimal wane and splits. Surface must be smooth. An ideal choice for higher grade decks where a more refined knotty appearance is desired. As cedar lumber is a natural product, and graded within a range of grading guidelines, all boards are not the same. While the grading at the sawmills is accurate, there is a 5% allowance for material that is off grade in any given lift, either slightly above grade or slightly below grade, or both
Select Deck grade can be defined by the following:
Face: none except at ends, then treat as splits Reverse face: light, none through
2"x4" and 2"x6" S4SEE – Surfaced four sides with eased edges. All 4 sides of the board are smooth. The long edges have been eased, or "rounded" with a 1/16" radius to prevent splinters. Dressed to 1 ½" thickness and 3 ½" or 5 ½" widths.
5/4"x6" S4SRE – Surfaced four sides with radius edge. All 4 sides of the board are smooth. The long edges have been rounded with a 3/16" radius.
